🎧how to binge a true crime season without burning out halfway

steps built around where these shows actually lose me, not generic take-a-break advice

1
start with ep 1, even if the finale's the one everyone quotes
you need the boring setup episode or the twist means nothing later
2
pick a season that actually closes, not an open case
Serial season 1 wraps clean in 12 eps. some of the newer true crime seasons just... stop
3
clock the recap/clip episode around the middle of the season
4
skip bonus and Q&A episodes on the first pass
save them for after. listening out of order kills the pacing more than it adds
5
when it drags around ep 6-8, that's normal, not a sign to quit
that's usually the speculation stretch before the case actually breaks open
6
swap in a lighter show for one episode if it gets heavy
7
save the finale for a day off, not your commute
half asleep on the train is not how you want to hear the reveal. learned that one the hard way
8
if you fall behind, read the wiki instead of relistening the whole thing
nobody's grading you on this
