The VS Code shortcuts worth learning first

Command Palette first, then work outward. Read the docs if one of these doesn't fire for you, keybindings drift by OS and by extension.

Cmd+Shift+P - Command Palette

every action in the editor lives behind this, learn it before anything else

Cmd+P - Go to File

Cmd+Shift+O - Go to Symbol

jumps inside the current file, use it on long files instead of scrolling

Cmd+K Cmd+S - Open Keyboard Shortcuts

Cmd+/ - Toggle Line Comment

Cmd+D - Add Selection to Next Match

multi cursor without the multi cursor menu. you will look this up again until it sticks

F2 - Rename Symbol

renames everywhere the symbol is used, not just the current line

F12 - Go to Definition

Cmd+. - Quick Fix

the lightbulb. most of the fixes it suggests are right, not all

Ctrl+` - Toggle Terminal

Cmd+\ - Split Editor

Shift+Alt+F - Format Document

only works if a formatter is installed for the language, silent otherwise

Alt+Left / Alt+Right - navigate back and forward

like browser back. works across files

Cmd+K Z - Zen Mode

Cmd+Shift+K - Delete Line

no need to select the line first
