friends keep asking where to stay. this is the cheat sheet I text them instead of typing it out again

Roma Norte
the one everyone means when they say "stay in Roma". cafes, galleries, walkable, overrun with digital nomads by 2024, still good

Condesa
quieter and greener than Roma, Parque Mexico is the heart of it. best for a slower few days, worse for nightlife

Centro Historico
stay here for the Zocalo, the churches, Bellas Artes, not for sleeping late. loud, and pickpockets work the crowds near the metro

Coyoacan
Frida Kahlo's Casa Azul is here, plazas are genuinely nice on a Sunday. it's far from Roma/Condesa though, don't try to "pop over"

Polanco
money neighborhood. Museo Soumaya, Museo Jumex, the fancy restaurants that need reservations weeks out. good hotels, expensive everything

Juarez

San Rafael
the one nobody mentions. cheaper than Roma, real neighborhood feel, some of the best old cantinas in the city, trust me on this one

Santa Maria la Ribera
el Kiosco Morisco is there and it's genuinely strange and beautiful. bohemian, a little rough around the edges, not for a first night alone
