🔑what to buy week one vs what can wait

moved nine times. this is the split that actually matters

shower curtain + liner

used only the curtain once. flooded the bathroom in a week (learned this one late)

toilet paper, more than feels necessary

trash cans, kitchen size + a small bathroom one

one big can for everything looked fine in the store, terrible in practice

basic tool kit: screwdriver, hammer, level, tape measure

cleaning basics: dish soap, sponge, all purpose spray

do this first, before the first grocery run even

light bulbs, check every fixture on move-in day

half the fixtures had dead bulbs nobody mentioned at the walkthrough

power strip

command hooks, buy more than you think you need

fire extinguisher

the one safety item i actually regret buying two months late (learned this one late)

step stool

curtains or blinds for the bedroom

streetlight through bare windows week one was rough

artwork or frames

a rug, measure the room twice before ordering

sent one back, off by a foot

matching dishware

mismatched plates from three old apartments has worked fine for two years, skip this one honestly

a plant that isn't a cactus, something that survives you forgetting it
