🪴garden projects for next season, in the order I'll actually get to them

ranked by how much I'll regret NOT doing them, not by ambition. the ambitious ones are at the bottom on purpose.

Get garlic in the ground

If I miss the October window again I lose a whole year of it. No debate, this goes first.

Build a second raised bed before spring rush

Lumber prices always jump in March. Buy the wood now while I complain about the weather instead of the cost.

Fix the gap in the deer fence

Add drip irrigation to the back bed

Hand-watering that bed all summer is what wrecked my forearm this year.

Get a compost tumbler instead of my sad bin

The bin never gets hot enough. First-year me thought heat didn't matter for compost. It does.

Label everything, actually

Replanted three kale starts on top of carrots I'd already seeded there (learned the hard way).

Try a cold frame for winter greens

Espalier the old apple tree

Try dahlias for cutting

Deal with the squash vine borer situation

Lost every zucchini to this in August. Reading up on floating row cover for next year.

Test a no-dig bed in the back corner

Watched too much Charles Dowding to not try it at least once.
