Nobel Prize in Literature laureates, 2010 to 2025
the actual winners, not who I thought should've won. that list lives in my head, not here
01
2010 - Mario Vargas Llosa
for his cartography of structures of power (deserved)
02
2011 - Tomas Tranströmer
03
2012 - Mo Yan
hallucinatory realism was the phrase the committee used, and it's exactly right
04
2013 - Alice Munro
master of the short story, no notes
05
2014 - Patrick Modiano
06
2015 - Svetlana Alexievich
the shortlist was better most years, but not this one
07
2016 - Bob Dylan
still the most argued-about pick on this whole list
08
2017 - Kazuo Ishiguro
09
2018 - Olga Tokarczuk
awarded in 2019 alongside 2019's, after the academy's scandal year with no prize
10
2019 - Peter Handke
the most controversial name on here for reasons that have nothing to do with his prose
11
2020 - Louise Glück
12
2021 - Abdulrazak Gurnah
13
2022 - Annie Ernaux
(deserved), and overdue
14
2023 - Jon Fosse
15
2024 - Han Kang
first Nobel win I actually celebrated in real time
16
2025 - László Krasznahorkai
