🖖where to start with star trek

eight shows and one movie, roughly in the order that gets you hooked instead of confused. picard goes near the end, not the beginning, on purpose

start here. episodic, no homework, and it's quietly one of the best seasons of trek made in the last decade

skip straight to season 3, the first two are famously rough. stop after season 3 if you just want a taste

the one people who take trek seriously will tell you is the best. more arc, more commitment, worth it

Star Trek: The Original Series, the essential six

just six: Balance of Terror, City on the Edge of Forever, Amok Time, Space Seed, Mirror Mirror, Trouble with Tribbles

abrams' reboot, different timeline, zero homework required. good popcorn trek if you need a break from the deep cuts

Star Trek: Voyager, seasons 4 through 7

Star Trek: Lower Decks

animated, and it only lands once you know the tropes it's making fun of. no spoilers here, just watch it after DS9

Star Trek: Picard, season 3

basically a tng reunion, and i mean fan service as a compliment here
