01
2 months: smiles when you talk to her, calms down when you pick her up
02
4 months: coos back at you, brings her hands to her mouth
this is the age we finally felt like we were getting somewhere
03
6 months: knows familiar faces, rolls tummy to back, reaches for a toy she wants
04
9 months: gets to sitting by herself, looks when you call her name, is clingy around strangers
the stranger clinginess hit us hard on a flight. ask your pediatrician if it feels extreme, ours said it was textbook
05
12 months: waves bye-bye, pulls up to stand, understands 'no' (pauses at least)
06
15 months: takes a few steps alone, points to ask for something, stacks two small objects
we used this daily to gauge if she needed a snack or just wanted up. spoiler it was usually both
07
18 months: walks without holding on, tries 3+ words besides mama or dada, follows a one-step direction
08
2 years: kicks a ball, runs, points to at least two body parts when you ask
running felt sudden. one week she's cruising furniture, the next she's booking it across the living room
