馃懚baby proofing, room by room (what we really did)

not affiliate stuff, just what we bought, moved, or locked before he started crawling. ask your pediatrician about anything health related, this is just the house stuff

01
anchor the bookshelf and TV stand to the wall
we used this daily and forgot it was even installed until we moved out, cheap insurance
02
corner guards on the coffee table
he found the one corner we missed within a week
03
outlet covers, every room he can reach
04
cordless blinds, or cord cleats if you can't replace them
the one thing i didn't know about until a friend mentioned it, blind cords are a real strangulation risk not just a warning sticker
05
hardware mounted gate at the top of the stairs
pressure mounted gates are not rated for the top, found that out reading the box after already buying one
06
pressure mounted gate at the bottom is fine
07
cabinet locks on the lower cabinets
we used this daily too, in and out constantly for pots
08
stove knob covers
09
cleaning supplies moved to a high locked cabinet
definitly the least fun purchase we made but whatever
10
trash can with a lid he can't pop off
11
toilet lid lock
12
water heater set to 120掳F or lower
ask your pediatrician if you're not sure yours is already set right, ours wasn't
13
non slip mat in the tub
14
firm mattress, nothing else in the crib
ask your pediatrician about bumpers too, current guidance says skip them entirely
15
monitor cord mounted 3+ feet from the crib, or go cordless
16
smoke and CO detectors on every level
17
doorknob covers on rooms that aren't ready yet
moved three times before it stuck to the actual door we needed
18
medications and vitamins locked and out of reach

Or start a list of your own. Free, it takes a minute.
