This list changes over time. Get a short email when it does.

At most one short email a week. Unfollow in one click.

Pull the last 90 days of bank and card statements.

Check your phone's subscription page (Apple ID or Google Play).

Search your inbox for "receipt" and "invoice" going back a full year.

Not just this calendar year. A full trailing year catches the annual charges.

Write every recurring charge down in one place, even the $2.99 ones.

Cancel anything you can't say why you still have.

The honest test is having to think about it for more than a second.

Downgrade before you cancel if you're not sure.

Call to cancel anything that requires an actual phone call. Don't put it off.

These are always the ones still on the list from last January.

Check for annual charges hiding under a monthly-sounding name.

Adobe got me this way once.

Look for duplicate services doing the same job.

I had two cloud backups running for over a year. Two.

Ask yourself if you'd sign up for this today, at this price.

Set a calendar reminder for every free trial's real end date.

Not the day you signed up. The day it actually charges you.

Add up the total and compare it to last January's number.
