Laws of UX I cite in critique
Not the whole list from lawsofux.com, just the ones that keep coming up in reviews. (Still true after three redesigns.)

01
Hick's Law
More choices, slower decision. Four shipping options at checkout isn't free, someone pays in hesitation.
02
Fitts's Law
Distance and size, that's it. A delete button people miss is usually just too small or too far from the last click.
03
Jakob's Law
04
Miller's Law
05
Aesthetic-Usability Effect
A pretty interface buys more patience from testers, even bugs get forgiven longer. Dangerous to lean on.
06
Cognitive Load
07
Peak-End Rule
People remember the worst moment and the last moment, average everything else. Fix the ending before the middle.
08
Von Restorff Effect
09
Doherty Threshold
Under 400ms and people stay in flow. Past it they start opening a second tab.
10
Serial Position Effect
11
Zeigarnik Effect
An unfinished progress bar nags at people more than a finished one rewards them. Onboarding checklists live off this.
12
Occam's Razor
13
Tesler's Law
The complexity doesn't go away, it just moves to the user or to the system. Pick on purpose.
14
Postel's Law
Be liberal in what you accept. A form that autocorrects a phone format is being polite, not smart (pin this above the desk).
Or start a list of your own. Free, it takes a minute.
